Well, I’ve only got two days before SPINNING NATION 2010. It’s a charity event on Saturday that benefits troops / veterans and their costs associated with mental and physical rehabilitation after returning from service.
Sadly, I have only one registered participant for the class (and that’s my husband!). I don’t believe it’s because I’m a bad indoor cycle instructor. My classes in Carrollton prove to me otherwise. Last week, I had to turn a couple of riders away because the bikes were full. I think it’s the $75 fee associated with taking a two-hour spin class. : ( After having to pay dues, I can imagine that not just anyone will put down another $75 for a class they already attend for free.
But like all the other things I participate in, especially big things, like the Bike MS ride in May, there are some events that are worthy of our money. They go to a great cause and help to those who need it. So, I hope that if you’re reading this, that you consider all the wonderful things our troops do for us to keep us safe from danger, and join me at the 24HR Fitness in Lewisville on Saturday, February 27th. If you have any questions or want to learn more, send me a comment or email. : )
Besides that event on Saturday, AND if the weather cooperates, I’ll be riding with Team ICS-IAS at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Their captain has graciously offered up the opportunity to ride laps with them. This is exciting for me because in the four years I’ve ridden, I’ve never been asked by another team to join them on practice rides. Our team practice rides are few and far between and are typically either recommended rides through the MS Society or routes that we ride on a regular basis, through either our Sponsor, THE BICYCLE PATH, or through our riders’ experience with routes in both the Frisco and Denton areas. Now, if the weather will settle down and stop raining and stop cold-fronting on the weekends, we’ll actually start getting some saddle time in. Why is it that the weekdays are decent enough for a ride and weekends are not…especially, when the majority of us are stuck in an office or cubicle on the weekdays and stuck in our homes on the weekends because of the weather. (I say we motion for a 5 day weekend and 2 day workweek and see if the weather cooperates then).
So, while I plan to get a lot of saddle time in this weekend, I hope the weather lets me follow my plans. : )) If not, next year I’m pedaling to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to stop that groundhog from making an appearance!
